11/45 memory:	Horrible bug requires PC card changes.  Underway - TED.

Arms:		Gold arm still being refurbished by VDS.
		Force wrist being installed - TED.

New Ampex interface:  Being wired - TED.

Music Box:	Makes pretty music; has bugs - TED.

Foonly channel:	Vectorboard panel and cable dressing still not finished.
		Hangs occasionally; may still have bugs - JBR.

Survivable clock:  Installed; software doesn't use it yet - JBR.

Mag. tapes:	Last month's bug fixed -- it was software - JBR.

New keyboard scanner: Three alternatives under examination: H-P 21MX system at $35k,
		one without a computer at $35k, and a DEC 11/34 version at $40k - TED.

Datamedias:	2 terminals for Manna group awaiting modems.  We might upgrade
		existing terminals to use SAIL character set both on keyboards
		and displays - LES.

Imlac:		Will order another UDS Stanford modem for RWW's terminal, to free
		a TTY port for Dialnet - LES.

Main memory:	We plan to buy 1-2 million words of main memory soon.  A Request
		for Proposals will be issued in next week or so - LES.

9-track tapes:	Plan to buy some; probably a used 1600 bpi drive from IBM - JBR.

			    SYSTEM PROGRAMS

Operating system:  Uptime for December was 93%, including a run of 137 hours
		that could have been longer without help from friends.
		New UFD format in, almost debugged - JBR.

E		EREAD command and ">" feature for file extensions added - ME.

Font compiler	Now permits up to 128 fonts with partial loading of character
		sets - ME.

Privileges:	Discussion pointed up inadequacies in existing file protection
		and privilege capabilities of existing monitor - LES.
		In subsequent discussion, a plan for a more general access
		control scheme was developed based on placing people in
		groups and providing group access to certain file areas.
		This scheme is now being implemented - JBR.
